Humans, animals, birds, insects, rocks, trees, water and mountains are all part of the chain of life. We must rely on each other for survival.
Humans are not superior in the Universe. That is an illusion and is born from our ego. When we become conscious and aware of all creatures who walk, swim, fly and crawl beside us, and we truly see them as an important part of the delicate web of life, they can become our teachers.
Watch. Listen. Learn. Respect all life.

THE POLLINATOR
Our bumble bee friends play an extremely valuable role on planet Earth as one third of our food is pollinated by these small creatures. They busily gather nectar from flowers and carry it to plants which can then produce fruit, vegetables, nuts and beans.
In this way they can teach us to spread our good thoughts, words and deeds around to lift others up to be all they are capable of being. They remind us to pay forward the goodness we receive in our lives.

SPIRIT OF THE ARCTIC
Our beluga whale friends are extremely social and curious creatures. Their white bodies speak of innocence, purity and the North direction. These beautiful creatures spend the summer months in Arctic waters. They have a strong relationship with the Inuit people who continue to rely on them for sustenance.
They teach us to remain social and playful in our lives despite difficult conditions and to remember our own 'true north'. They remind us to be generous with what we have whether that be knowledge, peace, laughter or bounty.

ON PATH
Our caribou friends take part in one of the most amazing large animal migrations on the planet. There is no one specific leader, they just know instinctively when it is time to move in the North or South direction. The entire herd are on path to the same destination.
In this way they teach us that by paying attention to our inner wisdom and following the path that calls to us, we will find ourselves among others of like mind. They remind us that there is strength in numbers.

ON THE WATCH
Our fox friends have long been known as the clever and cunning ones due to their extremely keen eyesight, smell and hearing abilities. Their exceptional night vision adds to their especially efficient hunting skills.
In this way, fox can teach us to rely on our own keen senses. They remind us to be alert to new opportunities, and to pounce on the ones that will feed our souls.

THE FLOW
Our turtle friends carry their home with them at all times in the form of the beautiful shell on their back. In this way they teach us that the strength, security and sense of belonging we crave can always be found by going within.
Turtles move at their own pace which some may consider slow. While they are not in a hurry, they always reach their destination. They remind us that by living in the moment and moving with the natural flow, we will find the journey to our destination far more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Turtle has long been the symbol for Mother Earth in many cultures.

INNER RHYTHM
Our bear friends live a solitary life, with the exception of when mothers are raising their young. Their inner rhythm moves in close sync with Mother Earth's cycles and seasons.
In this way they teach us to rely on the inner wisdom of our body, mind and soul. They also remind us to slow down and rest more, especially in the winter cycle, and to go within for the answers we seek.

THE CALLING
Our geese friends can teach us to remain focused and true to our soul's path while helping and honoring the others. Geese travel together in a v-shape formation. This eases the journey of those who travel with them, as no one's vision is obstructed and the flapping of their wings creates an updraft for those who follow. When geese are called by the seasons to change location or direction, they heed that call as we humans must heed the call of our soul in these times of great change.
Geese also remind us to look at how committed we are to the people and projects in our lives, as they commit to their partners, peers and paths until death.

BREAKING FREE
Our dolphin friends are the most happy and carefree creatures on Earth. They spend their days swimming, jumping, playing and laughing. Dolphins teach us to break free from the restrictions we put on ourselves and to take life less seriously. They remind us to lighten up. Dance, play, laugh and love life more!

ANCIENT ONE
Our muskox friends walked the Earth with the woolly mammoths many thousands of years ago. You will still find this resilient and majestic creature still thriving in the Arctic parts of our planet. They remind us to be resilient as well...to remember who we are, where we came from and to respect the ways of the Ancestors no matter how hard that may be.
When muskox feel threatened, they stand together and surround the young ones to protect them from harm. In this way they teach us to take a stand with integrity for what we know is right, especially when it will affect the next generations.

SPIRIT OF REVELATION
Our lynx friends are nocturnal. They do their hunting alone, in the dark. In this way they teach us to know and trust our own perception, rather than that of others.
Lynx wait for their prey to come into close range as they are not fast runners. They remind us to be patient and trust until that which will nourish us and remains hidden, is meant to be revealed.
"Three things that cannot be long hidden; the sun, the moon, and the truth." - Buddha

GENTLE GIANT
Our moose friends teach us to command respect in our lives, not by force, but by standing in our personal power simply being who we truly are. Just as they command respect in their environment by their sheer size alone.
These gentle giants are twig eaters and therefore are predators to none. They show force only when they are threatened, or in times of passion as they answer the call of the female, reminding us that assertiveness is necessary at certain times in our lives.

LADY SPIRIT
Our ladybug friends appear in abundance in the spring cycle, reminding us of a time of rebirth and a fresh start. A powerful time to make our wishes known to the universe, knowing they will take form in due time. Their life span is short reminding us to let go and enjoy life more.
Ladybugs are the North American equivalent of the Egyptian scarab, which was highly honored in ancient times. They were buried with royalty as it was believed they assisted souls on their journey to the Spirit world. Ladybugs and beetles will sometimes appear to let us know that a loved one who has crossed over, is nearby in Spirit.

SPIRIT OF FREEDOM
Our horse brothers and sisters teach us to move toward living our lives with more freedom. These gorgeous creatures have walked the Earth for millions of years and still run wild and free in some places today. These free spirited ones remind us to run and play in the winds of change, rather than fear those winds. They say to us ‘go ahead, kick up your heels, tap into your inner free spirit and feel your power!’
DREAMWEAVER
Our spider friends remind us to be present and aware of the web we are weaving in our lives. While it weaves with a silk thread, we humans weave with our actions and words. Spider ensures there is balance in the web and comes to remind us of this, and to make use of the unique creativity that lies within us all individually.
It is said that Grandmother spider wove the web of the dreamcatcher, where only the wanted dreams would stay with the dreamer, and the unwanted dreams would be burned up by the morning sun.
"We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves." - Chief Seattle

SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY
Our wolf brothers and sisters teach us how to live in community. No one is more important than the other, each one contributes and does what's best for the pack's survival.
Alpha male and female lead the pack, respecting and protecting their family. They are responsible leaders, they lead side by side with honor, and they understand we are all teachers and students. Wolf reminds us how to live in the circle and do what it takes for the highest well being of the tribe.

DARKNESS and LIGHT
Raven spirit teaches us about duality and the magic that comes from moving through the dark times in our lives. Out of the dark, comes the light. If we do not experience challenges on our journey we would be unable to recognize and bask in the blessings that come from those dark times.
Ravens are one of the strongest, smartest, and hardiest of the winged ones that fly among us. They endure cold, dark Arctic winters and remind us to hang on and move through the seasons and cycles of our lives, trusting that winter does not last forever. If we recognize and embrace the dark parts of ourselves we can learn to dance in the light.

AGAINST ALL ODDS
Our Snow Leopard friends have been hunted to near extinction, leaving between three and five thousand left walking this Earth with us. They are native to the mountains of Central Asia where their fur and body parts are high in demand for money.
Against all odds, this beautiful animal has and continues to survive. They teach us to face our fears and not be intimidated by obstacles on our path. Keep going despite how things may appear.

SPIRIT OF GENTLE STRENGTH
Deer speaks of using our strength and power while walking humbly on our path. Constantly alert to the new adventures which lie ahead while being aware of what is behind us. Nudging us to move forward into new and unknown territory while being gentle with ourselves along the way.
MOTHER
Creator, please help us to honor, respect and protect Mother Earth, home to all things living. Please give us the courage and strength to be conscious of our actions and make healthier choices for the well being of our Mother, and the generations who inherit our legacy.
REFLECTION
Loons bring us the message of reflection and diving into our emotional waters before we are strong enough to fly. They are most comfortable in the water (which represents emotions) and very awkward on land. They fly strong only after months on the water singing, reflecting and nourishing themselves.
TIME TO SHINE
Dragonfly brings us the message of trusting our own power and shining our true light out into the world. They also remind us to take time to rest and be open to receiving light from our Spirit helpers as our dragonfly friends always stop to absorb the sunlight. The sunflower speaks of warmth, abundance, longevity and spiritual guidance. The message this piece brings is that when we let the light shine through us, and out into the world the path lights up and we can and will persevere through the challenging times.
TRADITION
Out of respect for the oral traditions of the people and the sacred message this drawing speaks of, I leave you with this Elder's Meditation:
"The teachings are for all, not just for Indians... The white people never wanted to learn before. They thought we were savages. Now they have a different understanding, and they do want to learn. We are all children of God. The tradition is open to anyone who wants to learn." - Don Jose Matusuwa, HUICHOL
"In the summer of 1994, a white buffalo calf was born. This means that now is the time for all races to come together. The Elders say that at this time a voice from within will speak to everyone. It will say now is the time to forgive, now is the time to come together. Are we willing to do this? Are we willing to quit judging other people? The Elders say, He will be talking through people of all races and gender. We need to open our hearts and welcome our brothers and sisters."

WISDOM of the ANCESTORS
There is much wisdom in the unknown, what is referred to as the Great Mystery. We must trust that there is more to our world than meets the eye. Much like our owl friends who have the ability to see clearly in the dark, we too can learn to use our sixth sense to see that which is hidden. If we learn to listen with our hearts and souls, we will know the wisdom of the Ancestors.
SWAN SONG
Swans sing of love, grace and intuition. A blending of the head/heart connection and one of growing into our true authentic selves, much how the ugly duckling transformed into a beautiful swan. Black swans also fly and swim among us and sing about embracing being 'different'. The swan also speaks of loyalty and equality in partnerships as they are mates for life. They remind us not to leave this life with our song still in us.
SPIRIT OF JOY
Hummingbird brings us the message of joy. Who better than the winged one that spends it's entire life happily buzzing from one beautiful source to the next beautiful source taking in life’s sweet nectar.
TRUTH and RESPONSIBILITY
We are connected to all things on Mother Earth….our souls know the truth of why we came here. There is a song in our hearts – a promise we made – to be caretakers of the Earth. It is time to look into our hearts and remember our song and take responsibility for her well being in honor of the next generation. Creator and the Ancestors offer assistance and guidance and are watching closely. Be truthful, speak from your heart and always do what's best for all.
TRANSFORMATION
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.” - Richard Bach
Butterfly brings us the message of transformation. Who better than one who once crawled around in the world as a worm. Only after a time of retreat to do its inner work in a cocoon, does it finally emerge with beautiful wings now carrying it high in the air with new strength and perspective.

BROKEN OPEN
"The wound is the place where the light enters you." - Rumi
We need to remember when we are feeling sad or broken or everything seems to be falling apart around us it is an opportunity for our hearts to open further. It makes cracks so we can choose to let love in. We can also choose to stay broken and shut down further. It truly is a choice.

IT’S TIME
The Egyptian petroglyph symbol of the Ankh is the meaning of eternal life and the web in the center speaks of all things being connected. The eyes in the bottom of the web are those of the Ancestors who are watching us closely and guiding us at this important time of transformation on earth. To one of peace and love. The moon and stars represent the universe reminding us that we are part of something far bigger than us. The teardrops speak about sadness and joy, duality, and the constant presence of dark and light. The hourglass and rainbow speak of these times of prophecy.
PRAYER
There is no right or wrong way to pray. It's a personal choice and our own relationship with Spirit, Creator, God, Source, Universe, all that is. Whether it's a conversation with that higher power, or feelings and thoughts that ripple out into the universe, I believe all is heard and answered. Perhaps not always in the way we expect but for the highest good and where the grander plan is concerned.
